This is the first time when Rising Pune Supergiants will be playing in the tournament. RPS got this opportunity for two years due to the suspension of two big teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for their alleged role in match fixing and betting scandals. The second team to serve replacement is Gujarat Lions. Rising Pune Supergiants is a new team based on Pune city and is owned by Sanjiv Goenka. Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune is declared as home ground for RPS. The Franchise included MS Dhoni one of the most successful Indian Captain and former CSK captain. The team composition is looking good with some of the star batsman on their side like Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith and Faf Du Plessis. The spin bowling attack will be handled by R Ashwin. The team lacks in fast bowling as there is no big names included.
