We all enjoying ICC T20 World Cup 2016 and another big news came from the tournament that Shane Watson Australian all rounder announced his retirement from international cricket just after the World T20. He has retired from Test cricket back in 2015 and now in a press conference shows his intention to say good-bye to all formats of cricket. He is a great player and back from 2002 he is playing for Australia and the only player who is still the part of the team among others who was playing in 2002.
Watson said that he will continue to play cricket in T20 tournaments such as Big bash, Indian premier League, Caribbean Premier League, etc. He added that only T20 cricket is the only format in which you can spend time with your family, so he will continue to play T20 cricket and always connect to the game. He also said that he loves to coach children so might be some cricket academy ideas popping up in his mind.
Shane Watson retirement news is a very big blow for his fans. Not in Australia, he earned fans from all over the world and this news saddens many cricket fans. But fans can watch him playing in IPL and Big bash kind of tournament.
Watson scored total 10,888 runs including 14 centuries and 67 fifties in all formats of cricket. He has also scored a century in T20 format. He is one of the greatest all-rounder of cricket . He is the only all-rounder who have 10,000+ runs ,250+ wickets and 100+ catches in the game of cricket (all formats)
So the decision of retirement when his team is not performing well will be right or wrong, time will tell. But there is no doubt that Shane Watson will be included in the list of greatest cricketer of the World. Australia will take on Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2016 on 25 march and then on 27th against India. For Shane Ind vs Aus T20 match could be the last one if they didn’t qualify for the semis of the tournament. Lets Cheers for Him 🙂
