The aroma of One-day International cricket can be smelt in the air and now Sri Lanka will play a 5 match ODI series with the England which is named as Royal London cricket series 2016. Just after finishing 4 match test series with the host team, Sri Lanka will play 2 ODI Matches with Ireland in Ireland and then the grand battle ENG vs SL 2016 ODI series will start from 21 June 2016 to 02 July. The schedule of the series has been announced by the boards of both the team. Total 5 one day international matches to be played between the two teams at five different venues. Sri Lanka is on the tour of England from the first week of May for the 4 test matches than this ODI series and at the last 2 T20 matches.
If we look at the ICC ODI Rankings, there is not much difference in the rating of both the team. Sri Lanka team is on the 5th position with 104 rating points where England team is just below them at no. 6th with 103 points. The team which will win the series will definitely rise in the table. Both the teams will try to take advantage here and improve their rankings.
Earlier in World T20 2016 British team reached to the finals and shocked every one but unfortunately lost against the West Indies. So the tournament surely helped the players and gained the confidence that is needed to perform in the matches. Jason Roy and Joe Root was one of the key players of the event. Hope in the upcoming match they will surely help their team to put some decent total on the board. Experienced Alastair Cook will be the captain of the team. James Anderson who has performed extremely well in the test series will try to continue his form in the upcoming One day International matches too.
Sri Lankan team is a young side in which most of the youngster are selected for the tour. Angelo Matthews will be the captain of team where Dinesh Chandimal is given the responsibility of Vice captaincy. Both are experienced and in form batsman and hope both will try to explore the youngsters there to get better performance from the boys. No Doubt they have talented players but it will be good to see how the youngster will tackle the opponent at their home.
