MAHELA JAYAWARDENE, SRI LANKA (1016 RUNS, AVG-39.07, SR-134.74,100-1, 50-6)

Mahela Jayawardene was former Sri Lakan captain and player. He is the only batsman to score more than 1000 runs in World T20 tournament. Before his retirement, he had played 31 matches scoring 1016 runs. He is the only Sri Lankan bats to score a century in t20 world cup. His personal best core was 100 against Zimbabwe in 2010.

CHRIS GAYLE, WEST INDIES (807 RUNS, AVG-42.47, SR-142.57, 100-1, 50-7)

Chris Gayle is a disastrous player who is known for his big hitting. He plays for West Indies. When he is on the crease fielders become audience and audience become fielders. He has scored 807 runs in 23 matches at average of 42.47. His highest run score is 117 runs in just 57 balls against South Africa in first t20 world cup, 2007.

TILLAKARATNE DILSHAN, SRI LANKA (764 RUNS, AVG-29.38, SR-124.22, 50-5)

He plays for Sri Lanka at international level. He is all-rounder cricketer. Dilshan best individual score in T20 world cup was in 2009 against West Indies where he scored 96* runs off 57 balls and won the Man of the series for the same tournament. He was the key player of the team that won world T20 in 2014 and team that reached to finals of  2009 and 2012 seasons.

KUMAR SANGAKKARA, SRI LANKA (661 RUNS, AVG-25.42, SR-112.22, 50-4)

Kumar Sangakkara is the fourth and third Sri Lankan batsman in the top 10 highest run scorer in T20 World cup. This former cricketer before retirement played 31 world cup matches scoring 661 runs with an average of 25.42. He was the key player of the team that won tournament in 2014 and team that reached to finals of  2009 and 2012.

BRENDON MCCULLUM, NEW ZEALAND (637 RUNS, AVG-28.95, SR-128.42, 100-1, 50-2)

Brendon Mccullum is a New Zealand professional cricket player and is known for his big hitting in limited over cricket game. He has scored 637 runs in 25 matches of world t20 tournament. His highest score in t20 world cup is 123 runs off 58 balls against Sri Lanka in 2012.

AB DE VILLIERS, SOUTH AFRICA (607 RUNS, AVG-28.9, SR-138.26, 50-4)

AB De Villiers is a South African cricketer and is one of the best current cricketers. He captains South Africa for t20 matches. He is an all-rounder. He has scored 607 runs in 26 matches in t20 world cup. His highest score in World T20 tournament is 79* off 34 balls including 5 fours and 6 sixes against  New Zealand in 2009.

ROHIT SHARMA, INDIA (585 RUNS, AVG-48.75, SR-130.87, 50-6)

Rohit Sharma is the seventh and first Indian player in top 10 highest run scorer in T20 World list. While batting in a full flow, he is a spectator delights. He has played 23 World t20 matches scoring 585 runs with an average of 48.75 and strike rate 130.87.

KEVIN PIETERSEN, ENGLAND (580 RUNS, AVG-44.61, SR-148.3, 50-4)

The former English cricketer is at number eighth position in the top 10 batsman list of ICC World T20. He had played 15 matches and scored 580 runs at an average of 44.61. He was a vital player for England i 2010 tournament and was named man of the series for his brilliant and match winning innings throughout the tournament. Due to his excellent batting England bag the 2010 T20 World Cup trophy.

YUVRAJ SINGH, INDIA (541 RUNS, AVG-25.76, SR-132.59, 50-4)

Yuvraj Singh is an all-rounder Indian cricket player known for the fastest 50 in t20 format. In 2007 t20 world cup he made fastest 50 in just 12 balls and made 6 sixes on six balls of an over, the tournament which India won. He had score 541 runs in 27 matches playing only in 24 innings.

KAMRAN AKMAL, PAKISTAN (524 RUNS, AVG-20.96, SR-115.92, 50-3)

Kamran Akmal plays for Pakistan cricket team. He is the only Pakistan player to be in the top 10 highest run scorer of T20 World cup list. He has scored 524 runs in 30 matches with an average of 20.96 and strike rate 115.92.

Malinga has played 31 world t20 matches and was able to take 38 wickets with an economy of 7.43.He has bowled 102.4 overs and given 763 runs. Lasith has given 20.1 runs for each wicket. His personal best bowling figure was 5 wicket for 31 against England Team during 2012 season.

2. SAEED AJMAL, PAKISTAN (WKT-36, AVG-16.9, ECON-6.79, 4W-3)

Banned by ICC for his bowling action, this Pakistani off-spin bowler has taken 36 wickets in 23 matches at an economy of 6.79. He is the second position in leading wicket taker bowlers list. He is the only bowler to have 4 wickets in 3 World T20 matches. The best bowling record of Saeed Ajmal was against Australian team in the semifinal match of 2010 season.

3. SHAHID AFRIDI, PAKISTAN (WKT-35, AVG-22.5, ECON-6.62, 4W-2)

The Pakistan t20 Team‘s captain, Shahid Afridi is at number 3rd position in the list of Highest wicket taker of World T20. He has played 30 matches and grabbed 35 wickets with an average of 22.5 and economy 6.62. His best performance in the tournament was 4 wickets for 11 runs.

4. AJANTHA MENDIS, SRI LANKA (WKT-35, AVG-15, ECON-6.7, 4W-1, 5W-1)

The second Sri Lankan bowler to occupy place in top 10 bowlers list is Ajantha Mendis. He is place at 4th position with 35 wickets in 21 matches. He has the world record of best figure in the World T20 Cup. He has taken 6 wickets for 8 runs against Zimbabwe team during 2012 season of the grand tournament. He is the only bowler to take 6 wicket haul in such T20 tournament which is a record.

5. UMAR GUL, PAKISTAN (WKT-35, AVG-17.3, ECON-7.3, 4W-1, 5W-1)

The third Pakistani bowler to make position in the best bowler list of ICC World T20 is Umar Gul. He was the leading wicket taker in the season 2007 & 2009. He has taken 35 wickets in 24 matches. His top bowling performance was against New Zealand where he took 5 wickets for just 6 runs in 2009.

6.STUART BROAD, ENGLAND (WKT-30, AVG-22.4, ECON-7.72, )

Broad has 30 wickets in his bag in 26 T20 world cup matches. He has given 7.72 runs per over and 22.4 runs for each wicket. He holds the record of very expensive over bowled by any bowler in such tournament. In 2007 , Yuvraj Singh hit 6 sixes in 6 balls in an overs of Stuart Broad. Because of this expensive over from Broad, Yuvraj has the record of fastest 50 in just 12 balls on his name in T20 format.

7. DALE STEYN, SOUTH AFRICA (WKT-29, AVG-17.6, ECON-6.62, 4W-1)

Dayle Steyn is at number seventh position in top 10 bowler of ICC World Twenty20 list. He plays for South Africa. Dale has played in 21 matches taking 29 wickets with an average of 17.6 and economy 6.62. His top performance in t20 world cup was 4 wickets for 17 runs.

8. MORNE MORKEL, SOUTH AFRICA (WKT-24, AVG-18.8, ECON-7.21, 4W-2)

The another South African Bowler in the list is Morne Morkel. Morkel has been successful to grab 24 wickets in 17 matches. 4 wickets in just 17 runs against New Zealand during 2014 season, was his top performance.

1.India (2007)

India was the first ICC World Twenty20 Champions in 2007, hosted by South Africa. Total 12 teams took participate in the tournament, 10 ICC full members and Kenya and Scotland who were the finalist of WCL Division One tournament. New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia and India were the team who made into semifinals. Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 6 wicket and India won by 15 runs against Australia in semifinals. The final match was between the two most rivalry teams and was super interesting. India won the title by 5 runs. Some great performances were the highlight of the tournament, Chris Gayle 117 runs innings from just 57 balls including 10 sixes, and Yuvraj Singh 6 sixes in 6 balls in an over score his 50 in just 12 balls and Brett Lee hat-trick, first in the T20 internationals .

Pakistan (2009):

The second ICC World T20 tournament held in England 2009. Like previous T20 World cup, 12 teams battled for the championship 9 test playing teams and 3 associate teams Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland. This tournament was full of some big surprises as favorites were defeated by underdogs. Australia could not make way to super8 and lost its both group matches to Sri Lanka and West Indies. In super 8 stage, the previous champion and a strong contender lost its all 3 matches to West Indies, England and South Africa and thus was out of the tournament.  In semi finals Pakistan won against South Africa by 7 runs and Sri Lanka won by 57 runs against West Indies and reached finals. Shahid Afridi’s 54 runs innings and 2 wickets for 16 runs helped Pakistan to make the T20 World cup tittle into their name by defeating Sri Lanka with 8 wickets in hand.

England (2010):

The third edition of the tournament was hosted by West Indies in 2010. The tournament was held earlier from its two-year span as 2008 Champions Trophy tournament in Pakistan was postponed due to some security reasons. As before 12 teams participated in the tournament 10 being the full members and other two were Afghanistan and Ireland who were qualified through ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. The two oldest rivalry England and Australia met in finals by winning in semifinals against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively. England Team won the T20 World Cup by 7 wickets with three overs to spares.

West Indies (2012):

In 2012 ICC World T20 Championship tournament was first time organised in an Asian countries, Sri Lanka. Afghanistan and Ireland were two teams to be qualified for the tournament other than 10 full members. The host Sri Lanka and West Indies battled in finals for the championship. West Indies defeated the host team by 36 runs making their third world tittle and first since 1979 world cup. Mahela Jayawardene became the  batsman with most fours in a tournament and Brendon McCullum became the only man to score two international T20 hundreds.

Sri Lanka (2014):

The fifth edition of the tournament was held in Bangladesh in 2014. This time 16 teams participated in the tournament. Eight teams of Associate members played in first round from which two teams Bangladesh and Netherlands moved to super 10 round with 8 full member teams which are automatically progressed to super 10 round. India and Sri Lanka reached finals by winning in semi final against South Africa and West Indies. India lost their first match of the tournament against Sri Lanka in finals. Sri Lanka Team won T20 world cup by 6 wickets and became ICC World Twenty20 Champions of 2014.

Now the 6th edition of World T20 2016 is just about to start (Check World Cup Time Table here) and 10 teams will battle for the glory and only one team will win the T20 World cup 2016.

Pakistan has won the T20 World cup in 2009 and remained runner-up in 2007. Currently they at 7th position in ICC T20 ranking table. The team is placed in group 2 with India, Australia, New Zealand and a qualifier.

The selected Pakistan team squad is the combination of experienced and new players. Four new players have been given chances to play their first T20 International, which includes batsmen Khurram Manzoor and Babar Azam, Rumman Raees (fast bowler) and Mohammad Nawaz (all-rounder).
