Pink Ball & Day-Night Test Matches :-

All the matches will be played with the Pink Ball and all will be day-night matches. This is first time in the Indian Cricket History when a test match will be played under the light and with pink ball too. It is an experiment and if successful BCCI will take it forward to the international level.

About the League :

It is a first class cricket league of Indian domestic cricket which is played every year and this will be the 55th season of the league. Generally 5 teams used to participate in the tournament but this year there will be 3 teams only. Total 4 matches to be played, each team will play once against each other and after three matches, the two teams having more points in the table will play the grand finale.

Format :-

The Duleep Trophy is a first class cricket league which follows test match format. This year the league matches will be of 4 days test matches and the final one will follow the international standards i.e. it will be 5 day test match. Pink ball will be used in place of the ordinary red ball and the matches will be played under the flood lights.

About the Teams :-

Yuvraj Singh will be leading the “India Red”, Suresh Raina is appointed as the captain of “India Green” and Gautam Gambhir will be heading up “India Blue”. Check complete squads of each team here.

Five Asian teams out of only two will make to the grand finale of the tournament. United Arab emirates already out of the battle as they are on the last in the points table. Now the battle for final match is between the other 3 teams Pakistan, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. If Bangladesh win today’s match against Pakistan then they will play the final with Indian team else the fight will still continues. If Pakistan want to remain in the tournament they have to won the match against the tigers. Sri lanka has very less chances since they have won only 1 match out of three and on the no. 3 position in the points table. Only one match is remaining for them where they have to win the match with a big difference so that they have high net run rate and can compete if a situation came where the 3 teams having equal 4 points which is possible.

In India vs Sri Lanka match, India won the toss and elected to bat first where SL scored 138 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. No one scored much run from their team, CK Kapugedera scored 30 runs which was highest from their innings. Indian side lost their early wickets in the form of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan at 16/2 in 3.2 over. But great Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina played sensibly and take team score forward. At score of 70 Raina also got out. This time a different Yuvraj singh came onto the crease and played some rocket shots. He made 35 runs in just 18 balls with 3 sixes and 3 fours. Kohli made 57* runs and remained unbeaten. In 19.2 over India won the match ( 142/5 ) and became the first finalist of Asia cup 2016.

Coolest player of the Match award was given to Yuvraj Singh and Man of the match to Virat Kohli & he is also on 2nd position in the leading run scorer List of the tournament.

Yuvraj Singh underwent Chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer in his left lung in 2011 and was discharged in 2012 after completing the third and final treatment successfully. He has opened a charity named as YOUWECAN for cancer patient and has treated hundreds of patient till now. He has also written an autobiography THE TEST OF MY LIFE: FROM CRICKET TO CANCER AND BACK. He is engaged to Hazel Keech.
