Match Preview:

Before the tournament started, India was the first favorite of all but the performance of Indian batsman in the inaugural match of the T20 WC 2016 has rightly proved that T20 is surely a game of uncertainties and no prediction can be made for this short format of the game. India lost its first match of the tournament against New Zealand with a huge margin of 47 runs. The defeat clearly showed the weakness in batting order of the strong batting line up of India. Though the team was able to make a comeback in the tournament by winning all the other three super 10 stage matches against Pakistan, Bangladesh and Australia but has backed these wins due to the brilliant performance of Virat Kohli. As far as batting is concerned for India, it is has been a one-man show, except Kohli none of the batsman has played according to their name in the tournament so far. As result of this the early wicket of Kohli concluded the match in India’s defeat against New Zealand and a last ball win over Bangladesh. If batting has been a disappointment for India throughout the super 10 stage, bowling is the area which has worked for the team with Ashish Nehra, Jaspreet Bumrah and R Ashwin all performing well in the matches.

Opposite to Indian performance, West Indies entering semifinal stage has been a surprise to everyone. West Indies not only led the points table but has won three group matches but lost the last match to minnows Afghanistan which did not make any difference as WI has already qualified for Knockout stage.Unlike India the team has not been dependent on any individual and has shown a team effort to win against England, South Africa and Sri Lanka. Chris Gayle 100* runs against England prove the win of the Caribbean, if this man has his day. Suleiman Benn, Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo are all doing well with the bowl whereas Andre Fletcher has taken responsibilities from batting side.

One thing is sure that cricket fans will have a super match to enjoy when these two teams will battle on the field to get closer to the trophy and move to semi finals.

New Zealand is the only team in the tournament which has remained unbeaten inspite of being in the very much competitive group and topped the point table. They have been inform since the very first match of the tournament and registered a win over India which has been considered the biggest contender for the tittle. They not only win but defeated India with a huge margin of 47 runs and throughout ruled the match. They were able to defend a low target in all the four matches. This shows their bowling strength. The pair of Mitchell Santner and Sodhi in bowling department has been able to restrict the opponents whereas Martin Guptill is the leading run scorer from the team. In the group matches, New Zealand has batted first in all the matches so it will be interesting to see whether they can successfully chase if in semis they will bat second.

England has shown continual improvement after they lost their first match against West Indies in super 10 stage of WC T20 2016, where Chris Gayle scored 100* runs by hitting 11 sixes due to which West Indies won the match. But soon England make their comeback in the tournament and won all the three matches against South Africa, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Though their qualification for next stage was in question till their last group stage match but their win against Sri Lanka confirm their ticket to semi final match.
