As this is the first season of Gujarat lions in Indian Premier League,  they have only played 2 matches with Sunrisers Hyderabad and on both the occasion SRH grab the victory comfortably. In the first match, a big win for the hyderabad by 10 wickets and in the second match Hyderabad chased down a small total 127 run with 1 over left and won the match by 5 wickets. There is another opportunity for GL to throw it back and confirm their seat into the finals where SRH will try to maintain their winning sequence on in the 2nd Qualifier too. Teams Performances in the IPL 2016 :-

If we talk about Gujarat Lions, they have performed outstandingly throughout the tournament. In the league stage won 9 out of 14 matches and topped the Points table with 18 points which is maximum among other teams. They have started the tournament in their own fashion winning 6 matches out of 7 they have played in the starting and from there GL got huge fan following. In the middle of the tournament they slipped down little bit which caused them few defeats but again stand back and by winning total 9 matches they have qualified into the play-offs.

Gujarat is one of the main contender of IPL 2016 trophy but in the Qualifier 1st they lost the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore with 4 wickets. But as they was in the top two team on the points table Lions have another chance to get into the finals. Now they will play Qualifier 2nd in which they will compete with the winner of Eliminator that is Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Gujarat Lions have a good balance with the bat as well as with the ball. In the batting unit Brendon McCullum who can destroy anybody’s bowling spell, opens the inning for his team with the Australian batsman Aaron Finch. In the middle order captain Suresh Raina holding hand with Dinesh Kartik, Dwayne Smith and Ravindra Jadeja. Dwayne Brawo is one of the key player they got who can bat and also ball. In crucial overs he always proved himself as a key player for the team with the ball as well as with the bat too. In 14 innings he has taken 15 wickets so far. In the bowling unit the player which impressed most with his bowling is Dhawal kulkarni and in the last match his spell of 4 overs in which he has destroyed the top order of RCB. He took 4 wickets in that match and suspended just 14 runs which is one of the best bowling performance of IPL 2016. But GL lost the match by 4 runs. Praveen kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivil Kaushik are the other bowling option Suresh Raina have which can bring important breakthroughs to the team. So the upcoming match GL vs SRH will be a tough fight for sure.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have played good cricket this year in Indian Premier League and by winning 8 match out of 14 they managed to secure 3rd position on the points table . In the first Play-off against Kolkata Knight Riders they showed the world that this season they can also make history, beating KKR by 22 runs and entered into the Qualifier 2nd.

The thing about which SRH will be worried about is their batting. Except David Warner they can’t rely on any batsman. Shikhar Dhawan again not scoring runs from last 3 games which is a very big problem for Hyderabad team. Warner is the leading run scorer from their side, scored 686 runs in 15 innings and is on the second position after Virat Kohli. Moises Henriques is looking good but not converting a small innings to big one which can help them to put big total on the board. A good news for SRH is that in the last match Yuvraj Singh played a very good innings with some wonderful shots including 8 fours and 1 six, scored 44 runs in just 30 balls. The middle order is not so strong of Sunrisers. Naman Ohja, Karn Sharma are there but nothing working for them. Hope their batting order will be improved before the match, so that they can have a fighting total to defend if they bat first.

There is no doubt that they have best bowling unit among the others in IPL 2016. Few matches before Ashish Nehra got injured due to which he ruled out of the tournament which was a big blow for the team. They have Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has performed remarkably throughout the league and with 21 wickets is the current purple cap holder. Mustafizur Rahman also impressed every body with his brilliant deliveries and he has taken 16 wickets so far in 15 innings. Barinder Sran, Moises Henriques also good with the ball. Deepak Hooda is the only spinner we have seen from their side in the tournament. So the bowling department is all set to rock the Qualifier 2nd. The thing which need improvement is their batting.

Qualifier 1st :-

In this match top two team on the points table will fight and the team who will win the match will go to the finals of IPL 2016 directly. As Gujarat Lions and RCB are on the top so they will play the 1st qualifier.

The Eliminator :-

The team on the 3rd and 4th position on the points table will battle in the match and the winner of the match will meet with the team who lose in the Qualifier 1st. The team which will lose in Eliminator will be out of the race of the finals. So in Eliminator SRH will face KKR. The Schedule of the same is given below in the table.

Qualifier 2nd :-

In this match the team won the Eliminator and the team who lose in Qualifier First will meet and fight to get ticket for the grand finale of Indian Premier league which will be played on 29th May 2016 at Bangalore. The two teams which will meet in the Qualifier 2nd will be cleared after the first two first two matches of Play-offs.
