Duleep Trophy 2016 Schedule Announced: Day-Night format & Pink ball introduced

One of the major domestic cricket league of India Duleep Trophy 2016 is going to start in August. This year there will be 3 teams participating in the league in place of 5 as decided by BCCI which are named as India Red, India Blue, India Green. The first match will be played between Red & Green teams on 23rd August – 26th August. BCCI just announced the Duleep Trophy 2016 Schedule and we are ready with the fixtures for our viewers. Pink Ball & Day-Night Test Matches :-

All the matches will be played with the Pink Ball and all will be day-night matches. This is first time in the Indian Cricket History when a test match will be played under the light and with pink ball too. It is an experiment and if successful BCCI will take it forward to the international level.

About the League :

It is a first class cricket league of Indian domestic cricket which is played every year and this will be the 55th season of the league. Generally 5 teams used to participate in the tournament but this year there will be 3 teams only. Total 4 matches to be played, each team will play once against each other and after three matches, the two teams having more points in the table will play the grand finale.

Format :-

The Duleep Trophy is a first class cricket league which follows test match format. This year the league matches will be of 4 days test matches and the final one will follow the international standards i.e. it will be 5 day test match. Pink ball will be used in place of the ordinary red ball and the matches will be played under the flood lights.

About the Teams :-

Yuvraj Singh will be leading the “India Red”, Suresh Raina is appointed as the captain of “India Green” and Gautam Gambhir will be heading up “India Blue”. Check complete squads of each team here.

Suresh Raina Debut, Cricket Records & His Performance

Suresh Raina plays for Indian Cricket Team on International Level. He is a left-handed middle order batsman and is a needy off-spin bowler. In 2005, Raina made his ODI debut but entered Test Match format 5 years later. He has also served Indian Team as Captain and is the second youngest to do so for India. He holds record together with Rohit Sharma for being the only Indian batsman to score century in all three formats of International Cricket. He was in the team squad which won ODI World Cup in 2011.

He was born on 27 November 1986 and started playing cricket since year 2000. He was the captain of U-16 team for Uttar Pradesh & made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2003 for Uttar Pradesh. He has also played the U-19 Asian ODI Championship and 2004 U-19 World Cup and was awarded with a Border-Gavaskar scholarship to train at the Australian Cricket Academy.

His father Trilok Chand Raina is a retired Military Officer. He is the youngest among four siblings. Suresh Raina is married to his childhood friend Priyanka Chaudhary and lives in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He is a graduate in B.Com. He has also sung a song in movie Meeruthiya Gangster.
