ICC Champions Trophy 2017 Schedule Out: Starting From 1 June

One of the major limited over tournament ICC Champions Trophy coming up in 2017. The schedule of the same has been announced by the International Cricket Council exactly one year before starting of the tournament. This time England is going to host the big event. The first match will be played on June 1st 2017 between the host England and Asian tigers Bangladesh at Oval. Top Eight team from the ICC ODI Team Ranking ( on September 2015) are picked up for the tournament and divided into two groups A and B having 4 teams in each. As Australia was ranked no. 1 at that time in the ranking they are at the top of group A and India who was on 2nd Position in the ranking are on the top of Group B. According to Champions Trophy 2017 schedule, it will be 18 days rapid fire tournament which will start from 1 june and ends with the finale on 18 June. There is a reserved day also for the final if rain wash away the match. Both the opening and finale will be played on the same venue i.e. The Oval. Total 15 matches to be played with in 18 days.

This time, the World T20 2016 winner West Indies will not be there as they was on the 9th spot in the ICC ODI rankings as on 30th September 2015. Bangladesh has replaced them and since 2006 this will be the first chance for them when they will participate into the tournament.

As India is the defending Champion of the tournament they will try hard not to give the trophy from their bag to anyone. In 2013 India has won the title defeating England in a nail-biting game by just 5 runs. Due to rain, the game was reduced to 20 over battle and that was a full entertaining game for all the cricket fans. Hope we will see many such games this season too.

All the teams have good chance to improve their ranking and gain some useful points which will be helpful for qualifying into the biggest cricket event upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. As after 3 months of this tournament ICC will select the teams which will participate into the grand event of cricket in 2019. So good opportunity for all the teams to add some value there.

Earlier the tournament is known as ICC Knock-out but In 2002 it was renamed to Champions Trophy. Earlier every alternate year the tournament was used to held but now ICC have decided that it will be held after every 3 years. So after 2013, the tournament is ready for the 2017 season.

India has won the title twice one in 2002 when Sri Lanka and India both shared the trophy and second in 2013. Current ICC World Cup Champion Australia has also won the trophy twice and back to back in 2006 & 2009. Here is the complete List of the all previous winners of tournament :-

So from the above given ranking table top 8 teams have been selected for the upcoming tournament which are divided into 2 groups with 4 teams each. From each group 2 teams will qualify for the knock out round where semifinal and finals will be played. The Points table of each group will decide 4 teams which will play the knock-out round.

There will be only 2 day-night matches and rest all will be played in day. The time given in the schedule are according of England. If you are from different country than England, you have to convert the timing with respect to your country time.

If we Convert UK time into Indian time than all the day matches will start at 3:00 pm and day-night match at 6:00 pm.

India vs Pakistan: On 4th June both the teams will be facing each other. In any ICC event Pakistan has defeated India only once in 2009 South Africa where Pakistan won the match by 54 runs at Centurion. Lets see if Pakistan can add one more win to their bag or India keep going with their winning anthem on against the rival.
